Charleston Travel Guide: What to Eat, See, and Do!

Our favorite place to vacation, to visit, and to stay is CHARLESTON! This city has my heart and I love all the surrounding areas around it as well. Mount Pleasant is one of our go to places to visit anytime we head to Charleston and I wanted to share our favorite spots with you!

Where to Stay:

Charleston Harbor Resort in Mount Pleasant! It has everything you could ever want in a vacay! It’s great for kiddos and the family, but also great if it’s just you and your significant other! It’s a little tropical paradise with southern charm! Amazing pools, firepits, pool bar, restaurant and store on the resort, and the cutest rooms with the best views!

My blog post with our collaboration with the resort will give a ton of info on why we recommend them! You can view it HERE to learn more about Charleston Harbor Resort.

Hotel Emeline is in the heart of Charleston and we loved the vibe of this boutique hotel! You are able to walk anywhere from the hotel and is in the perfect location. Plus they have the cutest courtyard area where they serve dinner with a fireplace that makes it feel super cozy! I will also say their restaurant on site was one of our favorite meals we have had yet! Frannie & the Fox is a go to now for us anytime we are in town. Be sure to check them out below in the food section.

Where to Eat:

BREAKFAST- This is so important to us because we LOVEEEEEEE breakfast food!

Vintage Coffee was the perfect stop for the best iced coffee and a super yummy yogurt bowl… topped with granola, blueberries, strawberries and honey! Paisley got the French toast sticks, and Rob got eggs and bacon….plus they have the cutest setup for kids with an old vintage truck turned into a slide!

Another great breakfast stop that we went to twice while in Mount Pleasant was the Flying Biscuit! Their French Toast is EVERYTHING and I am super picky when it comes to french toast!

The most recent breakfast spot we tried was Vicious Biscuits and hands down BEST biscuit ever!! Unfortunately we ate them way to quick to get a photo….but there is a plate of other yummy breakfast food you can get!

The photo below is what I ordered trying to be really good and eat healthy….I gave in and ended up with a biscuit and tons of jam from their jam bar!

There are so many amazing spots for LUNCH! One of our favorites was Saltwater Cowboys in Mount Pleasant! The view was so gorgeous and we could not get over how good the food was! We started with the Cheddar Creek Biscuits….that strawberry bacon jam was soooooo good!

Rob got the smoked barbeque, sweet potato fries, and collards. I ordered the mahi tacos and baked beans! I am all about some fish tacos and these were super yummy! We did meet some friends here for lunch and of course I had to take a photo of her salad because it looked so good! Amanda ordered the chopped salad with pulled chicken…. I am definitely getting this next time!

For DINNER we had so many options! One of our favorites was Mill Street Tavern in Mount Pleasant. The view was worth it all and the food was AMAZING! They had a live band and super laid back and casual atmosphere!

We started with the crab dip! Rob and I split the steak frites and lemon-grass ginger chicken wings! Best chicken wings I’ve ever had!

Another great spot that we found in Mount Peasant was Pages Okra Grill! This was by far Rob’s FAVORITE meal and restaurant the whole trip!

We started with the crab bacon chowder and the amount of chunky crab in this soup was unbelievable!! Rob ordered the Signature Shrimp & Grits and I ordered the Australian Seabass with pimiento cheese grits! This seabass was the best fish I have EVER eaten hands down!!

Our most recent visit we tried Charleston Crab House at Shem’s Creek in Mount Pleasant and it was so good!! We sat outside and was able to watch the sunset and the boats roll in!!! I highly recommend this spot for dinner!! I always get seafood when eating at a seafood restaurant…and the soy glazed salmon with collards and grits was one of my favorite meals by far!

And I could not forget Frannie the Fox in Charleston. When Hotel Emeline hosted us, we were able to try a few items from the menu! This meal was my favorite of any we have had. For the our appetizers we ordered Blue Crab Fritters and Beef, Pork Meatballs, and the Todays Mozzarella. For dinner we shared the Pepperoni Pizza. Y’all, you have to try this place out if you are in Charleston….. that is all I have to say!

DESSERT and treats are our favorite! I couldn’t not chat about one of our favorite spots around the low country without mentioning our favorite sweet tooth location!

I snagged a pink icing poptart… brought me back to my 10 year old self and I was in heaven!! The options here are endless! BKeDSHoP CHARLESTON is our new favorite doughnut spot in Summerville!

What To Do:

There is always a good photo opportunity at Rainbow Row in downtown Charleston. We love all the colorful buildings and of course the pineapple fountain is Paisleys favorite!

If you are a photographer, then you have to head to rainbow row!! It is a photogs dream not only to take photos of others in front of but for headshots of you! There are so many spots to take amazing photos…I’m thinking family photos the next time we go!! 🙂

Next up we headed to the Pineapple Fountain! Paisley had so much fun splashing around!
Another fun thing to do is head to the beach!! There are a few islands to choose from but had heard amazing things about the Isle of
Palms and now this is our go to for the beach anytime we visit! This beach was so gorgeous and so wide!! Paisley was able to jump in and even made a few friends while we were there!

And last but certainly not least….SWEET JESSAMINE FLOWER TRUCK! I had seen this cute little truck all over instagram and had to find it! Our first trip I wanted gorgeous blooms for some photos for my new website…..I may have gotten slightly addicted to this sweet little truck! This most recent visit to Charleston I had to go again! The owner is as sweet as pie and her florals are so beautiful!! The flowers lasted 2 whole weeks after getting home both times!!

Until next time Charleston!!!
